The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

Nolan painting employees at holiday party The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

Fourteen Nolan Painting volunteers prepared dinner for 74 cancer patients and caregivers at the local American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. The diners enjoyed a “Christmas in July” meal – complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies, mac ‘n cheese and pies.

Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting better. Hope Lodge provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others. Every Hope Lodge also offers a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease. Currently, there are more than 30 Hope Lodge locations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

The AstraZeneca Hope Lodge is located at 110 West Laurel Avenue in Cheltenham.  Dinner was served on Monday, July 15, 2019.

Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Yet the American Cancer Society has a place where cancer patients and their caregivers can find help and hope when home is far away – an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

This charitable effort is part of Nolan Painting’s Nolan in the Neighborhood community outreach program.  The program is focused on improving the community, including in the area of health and fitness.
