Call this one a match made in Havertown…When the YMCA announced plans to open a brand new facility right across the street from Nolan’s home office on Eagle Road in Havertown, it was a natural for Nolan to step up and donate time and money to help bring this community anchor to life. After all, that’s what neighbors do! The company donated $25,000 and earned naming rights to the YMCA’s Child Care Center. In addition, Nolan gave the Y staff an office and a conference room for 18 months while the facility was built (they still use the conference room for off-site meetings and training).
WHO IT BENEFITS:
As the largest provider of family fitness programs and facilities, the Y continues to do all it can to serve its target market – families. Haverford Township residents never had a community YMCA. This YMCA is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the residents with family friendly programming. The YMCA provides an environment where all health seekers are comfortable and can work toward personal goals. The YMCA helps build relationships between members, staff and community stakeholders. Additionally, this YMCA provides an aquatic experience for virtually everyone. From swim lessons, lap swim for general health and wellness, water exercise classes and senior programs, this YMCA is able to provide an essential service to local residents.
WHEN & WHERE:
The Haverford YMCA is located at 891 N. Eagle Road in Havertown (the former site of the landmark Swell Bubblegum factory). The branch opened in 2014, but the partnership between the YMCA and Nolan Painting is ongoing.
Health & Fitness is one of the core focus areas for Nolan in the Neighborhood and the Haverford YMCA is simply an incredible place to stay in shape. Nolan employees love going to fitness classes (like the spin), indoor track and lap pool. CEO Kevin Nolan works out there 2-3 times a week and about 20 Nolan employees are active members and are reimbursed by the company for their membership.
