The Grange and The Riverbend Get a Makeover

Havertown, Pa. (May 3, 2016) – Nolan Painting lent its time and talent and to help revitalize two important local landmarks during the month of April. The Riverbend in Gladwyne and The Grange in Havertown received much needed repairs and painting from Southeastern Pennsylvania’s largest residential painting company. The work was part of Nolan in the Neighborhood, a community initiative supporting local organizations and events throughout the Main Line area.

The Grange, an original William Penn land grant, is the site of one of the 1682 Welsh Quaker settlements that established Haverford Township. The estate is located on a 10-acre hillside above Cobbs Creek and includes the original mansion and several other historic buildings. It is now owned by Haverford Township and managed by Friends of the Grange, an all-volunteer non profit organization.  Nolan donated $7000 worth of time to repair and paint several areas of the local treasure, including the kitchen, dining room and numerous bedrooms.

Riverbend Environmental Education Center is located on Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne. Since 1974, it has been enriching the lives of children and families through engaging environmental education.  From its beginnings as a quiet nature preserve, Riverbend has evolved to a thriving center for environmental education that touches the lives of nearly 12,000 people annually. Nolan donated $5700 worth of time to repair and paint the exterior areas of the center’s farmhouse.

According to Kevin Nolan, president of Nolan Painting, both projects are excellent examples of the company’s community commitment.

“We live here and understand what makes our region so special,” he said. “We don’t take the history and environmental beauty of the Main Line and surrounding areas for granted. The opportunity to help maintain and improve local landmarks brings a sense of pride to everyone who works at Nolan Painting.”

Since its founding in 1979, Nolan Painting has been an active community partner – attending, volunteering and sponsoring road races, concerts, festivals, silent auctions, shows and sporting events throughout the Delaware Valley. In 2015 alone, the company invested approximately $100,000 and upwards of 1000 employee volunteer hours into a variety of community initiatives.
