color trends for 2023

The color landscape for 2023 is full of comforting paint shades. The trends of painting your home greys are evolving into more warm tones this year. Individualism in design and creating a unique home that reflects you is the goal. Mixing styles from different periods, such as mid-century, brutalism, art deco– it’s all about Individualism. This same freedom applies to color expression in your home’s interior design. Here are some of the color trends currently popular for homeowners this year:

Browns– Although grays are still popular, the idea of an all-gray home is changing for 2023. Homeowners are creating more discrete spaces each with their own personality. Warm tones, particularly with red and plum undertones, will become more pervasive. We will be seeing more luscious browns, such as Benjamin Moore’s Wenge, and warm clay/earthen tones, such as Sherwin Williams Redend Point.

Reds & Plums- Deep, vibrant shades from across the rainbow, most pointedly, reds and plums will be bursting onto the scene… persimmons, magentas, and aubergine (aka: eggplant) are popular interior paint ideas.  Benjamin Moore’s color of the year, Raspberry Blush, is an excellent example.  Other strong colors will showcase their powers as well aiding in developing a uniquely personal home.  And often these bolder colors will be used on accent walls to lift the mood of a space without overpowering it.  But monochromatic rooms will still play a major role, saturating a room in luxurious color… walls, trim, woodwork all wrapped in a glorious shade of your favorite hue.

Nature inspired design will continue in popularity, featuring natural woods and stones and lots and lots of greens ranging from dusty sages to olives and the deepest of hunter greens. The earthy clays and deep browns incorporate perfectly into this design concept.
