Guest Blog: Customer’s Testimonial on Nolan Painting’s Work

In June, I had my home painted by Nolan Painting and I am thrilled with their work.

As a first time homebuyer I was particularly keen on finding the right painters to provide quality and professional work. And I was also very concerned about the cost. Not sure where to look, my friends advised me to join Angie’s List, a website that collects consumer reviews of home service companies in order to capture real-life experiences. I found that Nolan Painting was one of the first companies that popped up on the landing page when I searched interior painters in my zip code. They are rated an “A” company – the best rating you can get – and they have really good reviews from previous customers. After getting a good feeling, I checked out their website to see how professional they really are. I was pleased to see samples of their work and impressed that the company has a mission and promise to its employees and customers. It was also impressive to see videos on its services, customer relationships and its community involvement. After my research I was convinced that it would be prudent to work with such a reputable company like Nolan Painting.

I called the office and lined up an estimate with one of their sales guys. I needed the estimate to take place at a particular time due to my work/family schedule and far distance between my soon-to-be new home and my apartment. They were able to make my requested time and helped me determine which rooms I should have painted since cost was an issue. (I soon learned they are expensive but you get what you pay for and I wanted to use them. They knew my interest and were able to work with me on what would be necessary for Nolan to accomplish.) We agreed that the 3 areas of the home they would work on were the rooms that had wallpaper, which required a serious amount of removal and prepping. I found that what distinguishes a good painter from the other is not entirely based on the paint job but on the prep work.

After Photo Nolan PaintingNolan did a fantastic job! While the painters removed the wallpaper I met with their color consultant, Trish. I already had in mind what I wanted in the living room but needed advice on the shade of white trim.

I also had no idea what color to do in the kitchen — it has natural wood cabinets with a marbleized brownish, pink and black granite countertop. I at first thought buttery yellow but when I did the Sherwin Williams color visualizer (a website tool that allows you to upload a picture of the room you want to paint and you can apply different colors to the walls so you get an idea of how the room would like) the yellow did not look good at all. I then thought a light gray but again I didn’t like how it looked. The color consultant immediately knew, which amazed me! She first said, “why don’t you do a Sherwin Williams Sea Salt green.” But then also highly suggested Aloof Gray – more of a grayish green. We wound up doing the Sea Salt green since it was lighter and greener than the Aloof Gray. The kitchen looks amazing – we are thrilled with it. She also suggested to just do 1 color in the dining area since it has a chair rail and I wasn’t sure if we should do a light color on top and a darker shade on the bottom. The living room and stairwell we did in a Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan, which looks really fresh and crisp against the pure white trim.

I was really happy with the level of craftsmanship and how friendly and detailed- oriented the painters were. They helped me with which finish to use and provided information on other paint colors that could work too.

I felt they communicated well with me, worked around my schedule and respected my home and me. At the end of the job, the estimator contacted me to make sure I was happy with the work and asked if there were any areas they missed. They did miss 1 minute spot and I felt a little funny mentioning it but when I did he said, “why don’t you first move in to the home so if there are any nicks from the movers, we will come back to touch them all up.” That type of customer service really impressed me.

I am really happy that I chose Nolan. Taking down all that dark wallpaper really opened up the rooms so nicely and the paint job looks so fresh and clean. They helped me make a home of my own. Thank you Nolan!
