Exterior Painting Preparation
Every successful exterior paint project starts with proper preparation. At Nolan Painting, our preparation process is an essential step that is never overlooked. First, we properly prepare the surface. We protect all required areas with drop cloths and then scrape the surfaces by peeling any previous paint and sanding.
Nolan Painting uses the Dustless Sander or the Festool Rotex RO 90 DX Multi-Mode Sander tool. This innovative approach causes less dirt and debris, resulting in an easier cleanup. The Fort Washington area has a high risk for lead in houses built before 1978. This sander stops dust containing lead to be released into the air.
After sanding, our team fills in any cracks in the wood with latex caulk to lock in moisture. If the wood needs any repairs, we will suggest appropriate carpentry. Once areas of bare wood are primed, we begin painting! When the job is complete, we clean up any mess and leave any unused paint for future touch-ups!
